Meet Kisansa: Uganda’s Gentle Giant of Coffee.
Deep in the heart of Uganda’s Low District grows a special coffee variety that stands tall – quite literally! Known locally as Kisansa (and globally as Liberica), these remarkable trees stretch up to 10 meters high, their broad leaves dancing in the warm African breeze.
Unlike its cousins Arabica and Robusta, Kisansa thrives in our warmer, lower regions, making it perfect for our smallholder farmers. This resilient variety laughs in the face of drought, shrugs off pests, and stands strong against diseases. While it takes a patient four years from seed to first harvest, our farmers know this gentle giant is worth the wait.
Want to know what makes this coffee truly special? Every bean tells a story of Ugandan agricultural wisdom, where traditional farming methods meet nature’s own design for survival.
Welcome, coffee friend! Nothing brings people together quite like sharing stories over a great cup. Whether you’re here to explore new flavors or just chat about your coffee journey, we’re all ears.
